Frederick A. Sawyer

Sawyer was a soldier and politician. He came to Texas in 1836 as an aide to General Thomas Green. He served briefly as Secretary of War under President Burnet. He lived in Velasco and represented Brazoria County in Congress. He left for California during the gold rush and was named Texas commissioner of deeds in California, which was renewed in 1857. Details of his life after that are unknown.
