IdentifierMaps_278aDate1845DescriptionStreeter (Bibliography, no. 1348) gives an insightful analysis of this map. Apparently this 1845 issue is the first with meaningful revisions: five new counties and several new towns have been added. Twelve settlements appear in the Galveston Bay area: Galveston, Virginia, Austinia, San Leon, Harrisburg, Houston, New Washington, Lynchburg, Allenwood, Liberty, Anahuac, and Port Bolivar. A projected railroad connects Austinia with a second town of Bolivar, on the Brazos River.
