The bottom map focuses on the city of Houston and the lower reaches of Buffalo Bayou. Large ships are shown as far inland on the bayou as Harrisburg and the neighboring "Port Houston."

A manuscript note along the lower margin sums up the contemporary Galveston view of such promotionals: "An advertising sheet sent out by the Houston Real estate men to show that Galveston does not exist - note the ships in the prairie near Houston."
