IdentifierMaps_509aDate1928DescriptionThe map shows "Dredging Company Property" with boundaries marked by hatching. In 1929 Raymond A. Perry, president of the North American Dredgeing Company, gave this land along with Offat's Bayou to the county for development as a county park, later known as Perry Park. The irregularly shaped property borders the Highland Park Addition on two sides. Part of the site is occupied by another subdivision, which is divided into small lots and named Oceanview Addition.

The full park was never built because of the Great Depression (which stripped development funds), World War II (which brought about the construction of an airfield on the property), and lengthy legal battles concerning land usage. Nevertheless, smaller version of the park do appear on several later maps, including nos. 523 and 538 (1958). A center of activity in the 1950s, Perry Park is no longer maintained, and its future as a city park is uncertain.
