All panels from the earlier map have been removed and the treatment of embellishments (such as sailing ships) is quite different. There is some revision to geographical detail but none in the Gulf Coast region. Most significantly, this issue extends a few degrees north to include more of the Artic regions.

Hendrick Hondius reengraved his father's map in 1631. This is a late issue of the reengraving. Tooley identifies this as the tenth state and dates it [1645?]. Copies of this issue were found in some editions of Jan Jansson's Novus atlas. Phillips (Atlases, no. 459) describes a copy of this atlas, with the four volumes dated 1646-1649, containing an issue of the Hendrick Hondius map dated 1641.

Tooley in A Sequence of Maps of America gives a census of all states, including foreign examples.
